OUR STORY

In the summer of 2018, as Bryan and I prayed about stepping up to lead the youth of KMC, the word STOKE kept showing up in our lives all around us. From coffee to bumper stickers, restaurants and shirts, it felt like it was all around us and kept recurring in so many of our conversations. I began to wonder if this was more than a coincidence and decided to listen to the Holy Spirit in case there was more to it. We knew it would be a sensitive undertaking because of some of the unique circumstances surrounding the transition. We felt like God was leading us to be courageous and step out in faith. So any time uncertainty came up about the future, God would just pour vision into our hearts about the kind of supernatural, God-centered, love focused, word-based youth ministry He desired. As He shared visions of youth crying out for more of Him, my heart felt totally lit on fire for the young people of Kauai and our world. He reminded me of how long this fire had actually been living inside of me, and reminded me to stir up the gift of God inside of me.

Bryan and I began to discuss what this would look like and we knew it had to be centered on the word of God. We wanted the youth to know the excitement and joy of what it’s like to read the word of God and hear from God for themselves! The only way that excitement could really be caught was if it was real to us first. Just like a fire, this excitement was to be caught and spread, not simply taught but caught. The Holy Spirit showed us more of His holiness and how life changing His presence truly is, both in the old and new testament. From the burning bush to  Pentecost in the upper room, His presence is an empowering and life-transforming fire. We could now see how this word STOKE, that kept coming up around us, was no coincidence but a reminder of how we need to live a life that STOKES the presence of God. We can only do this by abiding in His word and living a life of obedience and worship. When we went to teach the kids about the importance of reading the word of God, we were going to follow the SOAPY format from Camp Agape since we had been a part of that team and were familiar with it. This is when God almost instantly downloaded to us the acrostic of STOKE and how stoking on the word of God was foundational. We get to fan into flames or STOKE the gifts of God that God gives to us. For us, those gifts include each and every youth we get to love.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

We exist to ignite a genuine passion for the word of God, and stoke the flames of a real and personal relationship with Him.

We desire to develop young leaders who make a Kingdom impact in their generation.

OUR FOUNDATIONAL SCRIPTURES

2 Timothy 1:6-7

6 This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

Exodus 3:1-5

1 One day Moses was tending the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock far into the wilderness and came to Sinai, the mountain of God. 2 There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the middle of a bush. Moses stared in amazement. Though the bush was engulfed in flames, it didn’t burn up. 3 “This is amazing,” Moses said to himself. “Why isn’t that bush burning up? I must go see it.” 4 When the Lord saw Moses coming to take a closer look, God called to him from the middle of the bush, “Moses! Moses!”“Here I am!” Moses replied.” 5 “Do not come any closer,” the Lord warned. “Take off your sandals, for you are standing on holy ground.

Acts 2:1-3

1 On the day of Pentecost  all the believers were meeting together in one place. 2 Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. 3 Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them.
